Renowned musician Jose Fernando Ramírez-Macías is the definition of versatility and diversity, mastering the flute in various genres, including salsa, beatboxing, traditional Colombian music, and flute standard repertoire. His exceptional talent has earned him recognition as “the 21st-century musician” by Magazine Life. He was praised for his “beautiful sound and versatile playing” and defined as an “extraordinary and talented flutist.” Ramírez-Macías is pursuing a DMA in Flute Performance and a Ph.D. in Higher Education focusing on music at West Virginia University. He holds a Master’s degree in Flute Performance, an MA in World Languages, Linguistics, and Literature, and a certificate in Higher Education, all from WVU. He is proficient in English, Spanish, and German, making him a bridge between diverse cultures and flute traditions.
As a teaching assistant, Ramírez-Macías received outstanding feedback from students and supervisors. His academic and musical achievements have earned him several scholarships, including the Valerie Canady Charitable Trust Foundation Scholarship and the Chancellor’s Scholars Program (CSP) Fellowship.
